I just need to say that before this surgery I was really questioning where my life was going, and how much time I had left. Dr McDowell was recommended by a friend who had had a hip replacement twice through him. He was doing excellent and was back at work as an armed guard. So I chose Dr McDowell, and it was the best health decision of my life. I had my surgery for hip replacement, and everything went very well. I'm in my third week of recovery and I'm walking very close to normal, which I haven't done in a number of years! Dr Mc Dowell's careful and very professional work on me has changed my life. In fact, my life has been given back to me, as I've felt previously that my life was just about over. I may seem over dramatic about all this but, that's how strongly I feel about what he has done for me. I cannot say thank you enough to him for this. His confidence in his work was very comforting, and showed me that he had a healthy pride and compassion for what he does. The way he dealt with me was great , and he spoke to me in a manner that was so casual and simple to understand about all that I was about to experience, and what would take place afterwards. I would 100 percent recommend Dr McDowell for anyone who needed hip surgery.

Dr. Mitchell McDowell literally changed my life. I have had both of my hips replaced by Dr. McDowell. Not only is he a skilled surgeon, but the care he demonstrated both before and after my surgeries was and still is above and beyond my expectations. The knees are next!

Two years ago I had bilateral total knee replacement surgery, didn’t go well (with a different surgeon). I was in constant pain.I was told that I will need reconstructive surgery on both my knee,so I was searching for second opinion.I was referred to dr McDowell,specialist for reconstructive surgeries.On April 13, 2022 dr McDowell performed reconstructive surgery on my right knee.I am in my fourth week of recovery and feeling great.I can’t even express how thankful I am to dr McDowell .He is a great doctor and a great surgeon.He listen to the patient,he explain everything in a simple way and he is with you on the same page so he can understand better your problem.I can’t say enough things what I have been experienced with him.

Dr. Mcdowell was the surgeon who did my total knee replacement about 18 months ago. I can't say enough good things relative to my experience with him and his staff. I'm young for a knee replacement, so as we talked about options, I had some lousy choices to make. I felt Dr. Mcdowell did a great job of telling me the options and what the next 10, 20, 30 years might look like with each. In the end I chose the total knee replacement. Because of how worn the joint was, it made the operation extra difficult. But Dr. Mcdowell and his team pulled it off. Post surgery, I was most concerned about the pain management schedule. That is to say, I am wary of opioids. I'm no expert, but I felt his pain management plan was stellar. In my profession I contact a fair number of MD's, including pain management ones. I had one I particularly respect review my plan. They thought it was excellent and sensible. At the end of the pain treatment phase of my recovery, upon reflection, certainly I had felt pain at times. But was never awful, and it was always because I had been too aggressive in reducing my pain management meds.
End result, I'm again able to go for a hike. I walk pain free. What spurred me to finally have this done, was that I tried and couldn't even walk for a few hours a Disneyland with my kids. Post pandemic is near, and I look forward to long days strolling Disneyland with them pain free.

Dr McDowell replaced both my knees - August 1, 2018 & October 31st, 2018 - I tell everyone it was like a miracle - I was in constant pain & had to walk with a cane. It’s 2 years later & I have had full mobility from day one and am pain free! I live in Texas now, so had to leave- good thing I don’t have any more knees to replace because I would not trust them with any other surgeon.

Dr. McDowell is an Angel sent from heaven. He saved my leg after I shattered my femur 2 years ago. He is very professional and kind. He listens to your questions and makes sure you understand the answers. It's worth the wait to get an appointment with him.

Dr. McDowell replaced both my hips and through that process changed my life. He is a great surgeon, very caring, supportive and doesn't rush through the appointment.

Dr. McDowell is an awesome surgeon. He replaced my hip and later replaced my knee. I have absolutely zero pain in either of them anymore. Also, he was the most patient with me. I am the kind of person that does my research on any kind endeavor. I ask a LOT of questions! He was always kind and answered them all with a smile.
